Neko © LGB Productions

In Japanese, Neko (猫) means “cat“.

But Neko is also…

a programming language, as you can see here.

a cross-platform open-source animated cursor-chasing cat screenmate application ^^.

a Japanese figurine, the maneki-neko (招き猫) or “beckoning cat”,
first appeared during the later part of the Edo period (1603-1867).
He symbolizes welcoming, as well as luck and wealth.

This maneki-neko lifts its left paw to invite newcomers to play abalone. It will bring you good luck in the game, and the koban (gold coin from the Edo period) around its neck ensures you that the abalone practice will enrich your reasoning abilities, your life and your spirit!

良いゲーム (Good game!)
