Every month a previously unreleased variation.

I dedicate this variation to David Jameson, who is the best Welsh Abalone player I know (:

Flag of Wales (since 1959)

Classic Black and White version by OCJ

Just created! (May 26, 2018, 17:01:01 GMT+2)

This variation was created on May 26, 2018 in Paris by French Abalone player Olivier Charles-Joseph, best known online as OCJ.
The name was given by Frédéric Garnier.
As you can see it is a balanced variation 😎

Olivier Charles-Joseph won Silver at the 2018 Abalone World Championship along with David Pearce (England) and Frédéric Garnier (France). Gold was won by Vincent Frochot (France).

Mind Sports Olympiad: Abalone World Championship 2018 results

The Abalone World Championship – one of the events of the Mind Sports Olympiad – took place at the JW3, 341-351 Finchley Road, London, on Monday August 20st, 2018 from 10am to around 2pm.

Here is the top ranking:

Congratulations to Vincent FROCHOT who won the title for the seventh time, following six earlier wins in 2007, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2017! Once again Vincent was invincible, winning all his games, no matter if he played Black or White!

In abalone, when you reach six you are supposed to stop, but Vincent looks set for a second round! ^^

No tie-break by points for the medals this year, so right behind Gold awarded Vincent FROCHOT (France), three players won Silver: Frédéric GARNIER (France), David PEARCE (England), and Olivier CHARLES-JOSEPH (France). There is no Bronze.

In the Junior category, the abalone medalists are:

Gold Junior: Jun U CHOI (South Korea)
Silver Junior: Juyeon SON (South Korea)
Bronze Junior: Victor Hernandez LUIS (Spain)

A big thank you is due here to the organizers of the MSO, the Live Streaming Team and all the people who made this event probably the best AWC ever! (:
